TFP's Top 4: Christmas Reads

We all know we here at TFP love a good book, and when Advent rolls around, things are no different. The Christmas season is such a special time of the year and I am learning how important it is to be intentional with why we celebrate this season.

I love reading new books and my "to read" list is always growing, but this is one of the very few books that I have reread and will keep at the top of my book list each year. Ann Voskamp has a stunning way with words and this book is an eye-opener to the beautiful mystery and unparalleled gift of the birth of our Savior. The book is laid out in daily devotional readings and is full of wisdom you will be gleaning all season long.

This book is not technically a Christmas book. However, it begins with the events leading up to Christ's birth, along with details about the birth of Christ you may never have thought about. This was a life-changing book for me, and you will undoubtedly draw references from it throughout the entire year. (And if you're looking for an even more in-depth study, try Jesus, the One and Only Bible Study)

The Women of Christmas explores a different perspective of Christmas, but still keeps your eyes right on Christ. Liz Curtis Higgs balances humor and deep Biblical truth well. Not only will you enjoy reading this book, but you will truly learn more about the birth of Christ and the women God used in the process.

The ladies of The Front Porch love the ladies of She Reads Truth. If you have never heard of She Reads then click here to take a look at their website. SRT publishes daily devotionals and walk their readers through in-depth, yet practical, studies throughout the year. SRT released a gorgeous study book to go along with Advent (that is currently sold out) but don't worry, you can still follow along with their study by downloading their app or heading over to shereadstruth.com each day!

Want some more study suggestions? Take a look at Hidden Christmas by Timothy Keller or try a daily devotional like The Dawning of Indestructible Joy by John Piper!

And looking for something a little different to get you in the Christmas spirit? Try out the All is Bright Christmas coloring book and devotional. This is great for an adult to relax and pass the time, or something fun to do with a child to talk about the truths of Christmas and foster the correct mindset for the season.

And there you have it! May this Christmas season fill your heart with joy and expectancy as we glorify our risen King for what He has done, and what He is yet to do. Merry Christmas!
