Sometimes it’s tough. That horrendous noise called an alarm “gently” reminds you it’s time to get motivated, and all you want to do is roll back over and pretend it’s still Saturday. For me, those make-it-or-break-it moments quickly turn into jerking clothes on, eating a banana while chugging some water and somehow making it to running practice at 5 AM.
Welcome to my life -- the life of a single, 23-year-old trying to juggle a full-time job, morning training sessions with my running coach and growing a new ministry while doing my best to seek Jesus in all I do.
Amidst all the chaos life inevitably throws our way, staying in shape can often take a back seat. However, Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians that our physical health should always be a priority.
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself…” - 1 Corinthians 6:19
We were not created for our own glory. The sovereign God of every living thing has chosen us to accomplish His purposes, and He has given us these bodies to do so. We must do our best to protect them by practicing self-control both physically and spiritually on a daily basis.
My hope here at The Front Porch is to encourage women in the day-to-day struggle of balancing jam-packed schedules while working to keep Jesus at the center of it all. I’ll be here to share my thoughts on how to stay active, explore current fitness trends and pass on my tried and true tips for a healthy lifestyle, all so that we, as children of the one, true God can know how to glorify Him fully in EVERY area of our lives.
